Benedict Arnold was never captured. It was British Major John Andre, who was involved in the plan to hand West Point over to the British, that was captured by the Americans and hanged as a spy.

When it was discovered that Benedict Arnold had become a turncoat and was spying for the British, he escaped to behind British lines. He became a General in the British Army. He joined the army of Lord Cornwallis in the South. He surrendered in Yorktown, Virginia. He went to London and retired on a General's pension.

Benidict Arnold did not get caught but General George Washington found out by spies o the british that he was a traitor.
