The British, like many of the empires that entered WW1, were at first ecstatic. People held street parties across the country in celebration of going to war, as they believed that they would win for certain and the war would be over in around a years time. Men volunteered in their thousands to fight for their country.

If by the west you mean the Western Hemisphere, and if by the war of Great Britain you mean the German attack on Britain during WW II, the west was very sympathetic to Britain. Canada was already fighting as a British ally from early in the war, and the US entered the war on the British side in 1941.

good. they thought that this would stop most Indian attacks, and were positive that they would gain control of British occupied Canada(Wrong!!)
