Etienne Brule wanted to live with the aboriginals to learn their language and culture, as well as to establish better trading relationships with them on behalf of the French. He also sought adventure and opportunities for exploration in the New World.
Etienne Brule became a French Explorer because he was inspired by another French Explorer named Samuel de Champlain. He asked Champlain if he could explore with him. The only reason why Champlain said yes because he was thinking that Brule would do his plan for the Huron Peoples.
The first European to see Lake Huron was not Samuel de Champlain, it was Etienne Brule.
