China and India made contact with one another centuries ago. In fact, China still occupies a third of the disputed Kashmir region. In the past, however, China and India set up a number of silk and spice trade routes. This was mainly from Northern India to the trading posts and colonies of Southern China. Marco Polo also helped bridged the trade gaps between these two countries during his expedition of Southeast Asia.
