Greek philosophy marked the beginning of organized Western thought. From this logic developed along with mathematics, the sciences (from Biology to physics and cosmology), political theory, later on psychology, and much more. Early theories of evolution and atomic theory began in Ancient Greece. Socrates is credited with being one of the founders of Western philosophy. The influence of Ancient Greece to philosophy is so great that the English philosopher Alfred Whitehead states, with some exaggeration, "Western philosophy is just a series of footnotes to Plato." Whether Plato's philosophy was anywhere near as important as Whitehead claims is debatable. Regardless of that, Ancient Greece marked the starting point for Western thought. Figures such as Aquinas, Hobbes, Descartes, Mill, Nietzsche, Kant, and Rousseau may be known today if it weren't for Plato and Aristotle. Also, physics, mathematics, biology, and all other fields that developed out of Greece may still be in their primitive forms. Greece had a profound influence on today's culture!
for century's Greek culture and philosophy has influenced modern culture. for example the Athenians influenced free thought and democracy which heavily influence western culture today, yet at the same time the Spartans heavily influenced military drill doctrines. thinkers and philosophers from Greece have influenced various man made ideas and still do today in fact some scientific and political influences can be traced back to the likes of Aristotle and Plato. when it comes to craftsmanship the ancient cities of Crete were fine craftsman and their work still influences people today

Roman philosophy had not affected today's culture much. It is Greek philosophy which had had an impact . It also had an impact of the Romans. They followed the stoic school and the epicurean school. Both were Greek. Stoicism had some influence in the 19th century.

Ancient Greek culture was very different from today's culture. For example, the Greeks would take slaves, which is not very widespread in today's western culture.
The influence of the greek culture faded , after Alexanders kingdom was divided into three areas, and later on the roman culture also made its way.
The three ancient civilisations that most profoundly influenced modern Western culture would probably be Rome, which gave us its empire; Greece, which gave us its philosophy and ideals; and Judea, which gave us Christianity.

The influence of Greek culture faded when the Roman Empire rose to power in the Mediterranean. Romans adopted and adapted many aspects of Greek culture, but over time developed their own unique identity that eventually diluted the impact of Greek cultural influence.
They were alike in that they were all heavily influenced by hundreds of years of Greek culture, art and philosophy. But Hellenic (that is, Greek) culure and Hellenistic cultures were different in that Hellenic culture kept its true, traditional forms while Hellenistic cultures in other countries were only an influence on local culture, art and philosophy but did not replace it. Each and every "Hellenistic" country was different from another by also staying faithful to much of its own traditions in philosophy and art.
Cultural philosophy is the study of how culture influences and shapes our understanding of philosophy. It examines how values, beliefs, norms, and practices within different cultures impact philosophical thought, and how philosophy in turn influences cultural beliefs and behaviors. It explores the relationship between culture and philosophical ideas.
