The wand recognised it's true master and left Voldemort's hand to join it's master.
James Potter disagreed with Lord Voldemort's view on the wizarding world and his attempts to take it over. To Lord Voldemort, James Potter was just in his way of killing Harry Potter.
Harry Potter has not destroyed the world, nor has he ever attempted to do so. Lord Voldemort was attempting to do take over the world.

Lord Voldemort did want to kill Harry. He promised that he wouldn't because Harry had the philosopher's stone and Voldemort wasn't powerful enough to take it off him, but Voldemort was unlikely to actually keep that promise even if Harry had joined his side and handed the stone over. The only reason Voldemort didn't try to kill Harry is because he had no body, he was sharing Quirrell's but had no actual control over him.
In the Great Hall of Hogwarts. In the movie it was changed to the Courtyard.
Harry's desire to not have Lord Voldemort return to power is the force behind his actions in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. If Voldemort gains the philosopher's stone he can return to power and will resume trying to take over the wizarding world. This will result in the death of hundreds of muggles, witches and wizards. Nobody wants the world at war again.

Harry Potter is born July 31, 1980 in Godrics Hallow, England. Lord Voldemort hears of a prophecy that a boy born at the end of July will have special powers over the Dark Lord, and Voldemort sets out to find them. Harry and his parents are protected by the Fidelius Charm, and Sirius Black as their secret keeper. Sirius switches in an attempt to throw off Voldemort, and gives the job to Peter Pettigrew, but Peter betrayes them. Voldemort kills Harry's family but when he tried to kill baby Harry, it backfired because Lord Voldemort's soul had been split so many times it was unstable. However, Lord Voldemort had taken precautions by splitting his soul into other objects so that he could be revived if killed. Harry Potter grows up, raised by his aunt and uncle, not knowing he is the child of people who can perform magic, and not knowing magic really exists. When he is of age, he is told of his heritage, and is taken to Hogwarts, a school that teaches people how to use magic. Many adventures take place. Lord Voldemort is revived from death, and rebuilds his power base. Potter and Voldemort clash in a final battle in the seventh novel, and Potter wins. Harry Potter marries Ginny Weasley, and they have three children: James Sirius Potter, Albus Severus Potter and Lily Luna Potter, born in that order.
Lord Voldemort killed Alastor Moody because he was helping to transport Harry Potter to the Burrow. To make it harder for Voldemort to capture Harry, six people took Polyjuice potion with Harry's hair in it - which meant there were seven Harry Potter's and the Death Eaters and Voldemort wouldn't know which was the real one. Each of the Potter's would fly with an adult guard to a safe house and would take a portkey to the Burrow. When they took off the Death Eaters attacked and Voldemort thought that the real Harry would be with the most experienced Auror so he went for Moody and his Harry, who was really Mundungus Fletcher. Mundungus was reluctant to take part in the plan anyway and as a killing curse was sent towards him he disapparated, the curse then hit Moody.
Lord Voldemort gave Harry's mother, Lily, the choice to stand aside and live. She refused to do so and died protecting her child. This created a strong bond of magic that is not understood by many. Lily's love for her son created a powerful protection spell over him. When Lord Voldemort - a person who had delved into the darkest of magic to extend his life - tried to kill an innocent, defenceless baby he was unable to. The spell rebounded and hit Lord Voldemort. However, as Voldemort already had several Horcruxes he didn't die, he was just ripped from his body.
In the last few chapers of the seventh book; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
There are hundreds of characters in Harry Potter, it would take far too long to list what happened to each of them. Some died, anybody who supported Lord Voldemort or committed crimes during his ruling were imprisoned and the rest went on to live normal lives.
