# The presiding judge at the trial was a secret member of the Nazi party. He allowed Hitler to speechify like crazy from the dock, despite complaints from the other two judges. # At the time (1924) the leading darling of the nationalists was Erich Ludendorff, who was accused with Hitler. So, there they were, in the dock - the wildly gesticulating, raving and ranting corporal and the field marshal. The latter's presence alongside Hitler lent him a 'spot of class', no doubt.

What ways did the Nazi Party try to increase its popularity in the years 1924-1929's?

The Nazi party tried t increase its popularity in the years 1924-1929 through many different methods such as meeting, rallies and marches. After Hitlers failure to overthrow the Wiemar republic in the Munich Putsch 1923, Hitler was arrested trialed and imprisoned. Hitler turned his trial in February 1924 into a propaganda tool to gain publicity. during his trial Hitler delivered a speech which criticized the Wiemar republic and Hitler expressing his ideas which were broad casted throughout German. The speech lead to the German people sympathizing for the Nazis party this clearly lead to more publicity and support. In addition, during Hitler's time in prison, Hitler wrote a book called Meinkamf my struggle which had Hitlers ideas of how German society should be and Nazism. soon this book became Germany's best seller. this allowed the Nazi's to gain publicity and support as many people had understood and supported Nazi ideas.Another way The Nazis gained publicity was through propaganda. Nazis had used posters and newspapers t get their message across. this helped gain publicity because many people would read the newspapers and were very likely t encounter a Nazi article. Furthermore, Josef Goebbels's, propaganda minister, targeted specific groups with specific messages. for example he would promise farmers more land and promised the working class for more money and jobs. this helped increase publicity because people wanted to have more land and money so hey ended up supporting Nazi ideas. Also during this time period german people saw a change in the SA. their previous image of violent and aggressive had become more gentle and disciplined. this made the German people feel safer and impressed them as they were well disciplined. they also encouraged more young people to join the SA which meant that they were growing in number and gained more publicity.
