SPOILER ALERT!

Lillian Wilson, Violet's grandmother, apparently knew very little about the Friendship until the night her church choir practice was cancelled due to a power outage. That night, she saw the Dantners and Violet's parents driving down Friendship Road past Bethel Springs Baptist.

Curious, she drove past the Friendship Church in secrecy, and later sneaked in and read enough of the Treatise to realize it was talking about the Wilsons and Piera Alberti's son Dominic Arocelli. She was probably aware of the unexplained disappearance of Piera and Dominic coinciding with Jack Dantner's death. And having found the last six pages of the Treatise hidden in her house (the house Rose was killed in), she knew she had to keep them safe until the time for the prophecy to be completed.

In Book Four of the series, it is explained how circumstance enabled her to locate Luca Arocelli, still alive and living in Memphis. After a tense telephone call, she confirmed that Luca was Dominic's father, and probably the best guardian of the last six pages of the Treatise. She mailed those pages to him, with a letter explaining that keeping them safe could save lives years later. Luca was still distraught over Piera's disappearance, and considered opening the pages. But something in the letter convinced him that honoring the request was best, and he locked them up in a safe deposit box until Violet's parents showed up looking for him.

How she was able to come up with Luca's name, telephone number, and address is clearly explained in Book Four of the series, as well as how she came into possession of the six pages in the first place. Also explained, in the tear-jerker Chapter 75, is how the photograph of Lillian reached the Wilsons--apparently, Reverend Martin was successful in his attempt to locate Lillian's estranged family.
