Martin Luther King gained rights for black americans when he studied gandhis' non-violent protest. He held Famous Speeches like 'I have a dream' and because John F. Kenendy only just scraped through the 1963 election because of black people voting for him he increased the rights for them on August 28th 1963. On that day 400,000 people marched through Washington for their rights to be increased. :)
