No, Michael never converted to Islam. The original source of the rumour is an article in a UK tabloid called "The Sun."
This article stated that David Wharnsby & Yusuf Islam were present at his conversion ceremony where he took the Shahada. However, both David Wharnsby & Yusuf Islam have released statements saying that no such ceremony ever happened. This makes the story i the Sun a LIE.
