When Moses came down with the ten commandments, he saw a sight that angered him. The Hebrew people melted all their gold and made a golden calf. Not only did they make a calf idol they were worshiping it. Strictly against the very first commandment of god.

∙ 11y agoMoses left Egypt on at least two occasions. The first was after he killed an Egyptian overseer and was, basically, a wanted criminal. It is obvious why he didn't want to return. The second, many years later, after Moses had returned to Egypt, was the now famous exodus of the Jews to the Promised Land. This situation is more complicated. Originally Pharaoh wanted the Jews to leave because of their frightening rate of reproduction. The large numbers of Jews could have constituted an internal threat. However, the Jews refused to leave. Still, the Jews were a valuable source of labor, but not on the pyramids, which were built by Egyptians. Jews made mud brick, which was the standard building material, even of Pharaoh's palace. Pharaoh kept making the working conditions ever harsher for the Jews, and so they decided to leave. Naturally Pharaoh resisted because he would have lost a large and important part of his work force. The Jews were never slaves, They were in "bondage" meaning that they had to work to pay for food and the privilege of living in Egypt.
