Ohio got its shape due to the border lines that were set during Northwest terrtories for example Pennsylvania it already set the eastern border and the ohio river set the southern border. The western border with indiana was set to spit the half of present day michigan. But michigan and ohio got into the toledo war which caused ohio change their line to make right line into Lake Erie.
