His was a tragic story. A Pontiff who only stayed in office for a year. He was determined to deal with the rising issue of reformers( especially in Germany , with the Luther's case on hand) but faced bitter oppositions from italian Cardinals . He had to also deal with hegemonic expansions of the turks , and princes all over Europe who had considerable influence on Vatican.

Not many records of his writings still surface and there is a little description of his death on most of the historians' accounts .
