Imperialism is about believing in a empire.

It helped a lot. Germany was imperialistic, and actually, so was Britain. People say that WW1 was caused by Germany, but if Britain didn't have it's empire, then there wouldn't have been a war. See, Germany's leader, Kaiser Wilhem (or something like that) was realated to Queen Victoria and was invited to Britain many times in his childhood. He saw what Britain had gained from having a empire and wanted in. So, when he became leader of Germany, he started building ships to sail around the world and build Germany's empire. So, Britain really was the cause of WW1 (because of a unfortunate connection between Queen Vic and the Kaiser and what he saw when over in Britain).
