Greece is a country in southeastern Europe, situated on the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula. Though adequate in some area the land in much of Ancient Greece was ill suited to the growing of crops like Wheat, Barley etc. The Greeks were able to grow enough to keep their populations from starving but they always relied on trade to get a wider variety of foods to improve their diets. Greece was a good environment to grow grape vines and to raise animals like sheep and goats. Shelters were man made. Battles were held in terrain soothed for combat.
