They got independence from a fampus man named Mahandhma Gandi,one of the greatest leaders in the world.I know this because I am an Indian.

Actually, it's a little more complex. Indians fought for Britain in WWII because of a vague promise of independence in return. When they didn't receive their independence immediately, they were prepared to rebel, but Britain was exhausted and not prepared or financed to hold down an Indian revolt because of WWII bombings and recovery, so Britain surrendered and gave India the independence it was requesting. Mahatma Gandhi played a large part in uniting India against British Imperialism, but was not the sole reason by any means for success.
