How did landforms effect World War 2? I have no idea!! Please help me on my project I'm doing!

United States and it's alies were mostly invading forces so the initial invations were affected greatly by land forms. Beaches were low in level and from the higher ground formations were the enemy entrenched thus making this harder for the alies to reach the targeted point with many loses on the alied side.
