Seal Team 6 raided Bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, which they had under surveillance. The location was confirmed when Bin Laden's courier was identified and followed to the compound.
Along with Bin Laden himself, three other men and a woman died in the raid. Bin Laden was killed when he was shot during the raid before being able to reach his weapon. His body was later buried at sea because no country would claim the body, and to avoid having his burial site turned into a shrine for potential supporters.
