I'm working on the same thing for my history research paper and hoped for some help... umm so far I've gotten that the change in "urbanization" (introduction of parks, ballets, theaters etc. esp. in France under Napoleon III and Haussmann's reconstruction of Paris ) and the rise in real wages (wages after inflation has been taken into account) of the average person that influenced art. ... Seraut= Parks, Degas= Ballet, Cassat = women & children... In any event, a greater focus on common activities and daily routines (and greater interest in middle and even lower classes) were introduced.
