People painted and wrote lyrics about what was going on in their everday life. The industrial revolution marked a significant change in lives of people in that time. For example, in the U.S today there are many patriotic songs, paintings, pictures, movies, etc that have been in answer to the war in Iraq and the war on terror. People put their emotions into their art of paintings and music.

Ha! I'm working on the same thing for my history research paper and hoped for some help... umm so far I've gotten that the change in "urbanization" (introduction of parks, ballets, theaters etc. esp. in France under Napoleon III and Haussmann's reconstruction of Paris ) and the rise in real wages (wages after inflation has been taken into account) of the average person that influenced art. ... Seraut= Parks, Degas= Ballet, Cassat = women & children... In any event, a greater focus on common activities and daily routines (and greater interest in middle and even lower classes) were introduced. In addition... look up the introduction of Realism... the shift away from romanticism... good luck

The Industrial Revolution both caused and was caused by technological innovations, which are reflected in art. Industrilization was both the pride of a nation and the scourge of its citizens. Themes, subjects, and moods changed dramatically. As well, the invention of Photography inspired Realism and Impressionism which were to be snapshots of life, as opposed to grand historical displays.
