The Great Depression Ended because of WWII though Franklin D. Roosevelt's New deal program helped American Citizens it was not the cause of the end of the Great Depression

WWII was the end of it because more people went off to war.. and that put woman working in factories.. and more people were in work.

So WWII was the main cause of the end of the Great Depression

and the New Deal helped too.

The New Deal ended the Great Depression.

No, World War 2 ended the Depression, but the New Deal helped.

Both those answers are false. I refer you to Murray Rothbard's book, America's Great Depression.

Think for a second. Let go of your attachments to nationalism and your idealized version of long-passed masters.

Is breaking a window good for an economy? No.

Is killing someone good for an economy? No.

These actions destroy value. We want to createvalue. Creating value is the only way to improve our condition- this is done through voluntary interaction. Every time you voluntarily interact with another being, each of you walk away with more than you came. The policies of the New Deal and the War took advantage of this surplus, and redirected it to cause human actions that destroyed value. Did Hitler need to be stopped? Yes, of course. But do not pretend for a moment that the actions required to make this happen somehow improved our condition.

The facts of history are clear. The economists who support the ideas above were saying at the end of the war that we would go back into a depression if the government didn't do something like Russia- but they were wrong, we had a period of growth that is only paralleled by the late 19th century. These same economists insist on pushing their ideas today, and the statements at the top of the page are a reflection of their lasting influence.

The great depression started in 1929. The end to the Great Depression came about in 1941 with America's entry into World War II. Suddenly there was work for every one if they weren't killing each other the were making the machines and ammunition to do it with.

The New Deal failed in its attempt to achieve a complete economic recovery. The recession of 1937 was proof that the New Dealers had not unlocked the secrets of maintaining economic prosperity during peacetime. Only when the nation began to prepare for World War II, along with massive purchases of American goods from abroad (and American rearmament), did the Great Depression come to an end. By 1939 the economy was on an upswing and by 1940, after war had begun in Europe, the Great Depression was history.

The depression in the US remained in effect in many areas because of the violent dust storms that hit what was called the Dust Bowl. Many credit 1939 because of the Nazi war threat. A few extend that date to Pearl Harbor.
