They have a thick white waterproof coat with a thick undercoat. Blubber under skin keeps them insulated. Although they have white looking fur, they have black skin, which makes the skin more efficient at absorbing heat. They have small ears to minimise heat loss, and big feet which helps support the animal in deep snow, and the bottom of their feet are furry which helps them grip. They are large bodied,meaning they lose less heat as they have a low surface area: volume ratio.
