How did the US repair the ships damaged by the attack on Pearl Harbor?

Although the Japanese attack suceeded in crippling the U.S. Pacific Fleet for the short term, the U.S. had certain advantages in rebuilding its Navy. First, a new navy was already being built. Due in part to the Naval Expansion Act of 1938, a significant number of new ships were already being constructed in shipyards on the West Coast. Further, only three battleships were permanently lost due to the attack. Almost all of the damaged ships were floated and repaired.

Most were refloated right where they sunk. A few capsized. Some were left alone, others, like the Nevada, were righted, and reworked. Pearl Harbor had/s many dry docks, and they were put to immediate use rebuilding the ships. All of the battleships that were sunk, save the Arizona were back in service at the end of WWII.

Yes. In fact sevearl p-30's and p-36's fighter planes took off during the attack on Pearl Harbor and shot down 13 Japanese fighter planes. The 13 planes was no hit compared to the 353 planes that acually were involved in the attack.

With the old traditional battleships gone, the navy was forced to use future technology: Aircrat Carriers.

IF the Japanese had not sunk those battleships; US Admirals would have sailed out to meet the Imperial Japanese Navy with THOSE battleships...against IJN Aircraft Carriers, whereupon they all would have quickly been sunk...in deep water by the way. NOT ABLE TO BE SALVAGED. And if the USN hadn't learned by then, and kept building more battleships and little to no aircraft carriers (being traditionally minded) then "more targets for IJN torpedo and dive bombing airplanes would have been built."
