Did the south have the right to secede the union?

To my understanding the South did not have the right to secede from the Union. According to Section 10 of the US Constitution, No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation. To the North there was no question that the South's secession was due to them losing the national election to the Republican Party who was well known to be an anti-slavery Party. Abraham Lincoln promised he would only stop the expansion of slavery which he proved to be true throughout the war, except when he passed the Emancipation Proclamation.

What did lincolns declare was the purpose of the civil war?

He hated slavery! So he went to war to stop slavery! The North did not have slavery. But the South did! So he wanted to put a stop to the slavery! So he could free the slaves from the South and bring back together the Union and the Confederates into one Nation. Originally Lincoln wanted to stop slavery from spreading north into Illinois, Ohio and beyond. When the South left the Union and formed The Confederate States Of America Lincoln went to war to preserve the Union and abolish Slavery.

What company was affected by the homestead strike?

This was a battle to unionize steel workers of Carnegie Steel Company in Pennsylvania. The Amalgamated Association of Iron and Steel Workers (AA) was an American labor union formed in 1876. It was a craft union representing skilled iron and steel workers. Carnegie was publicly in favor of the Unions but only publicly. He and his manager Henry Frick were bound to break the union. What event led directly to South Carolina's secession from the US?

The secessionist leadership of South Carolina had been angry at Washington DC since the Tariff problems that US President Jackson had to solve. As everyone was aware that the fairly new Republican Party was created to stop slavery, the election of Republican Lincoln was the last straw as far as South Carolina was concerned. They seceded from the Union in December of 1860.
