it contributed to british identy by showing that the british didn't do anything for the Americans, but that they did fight a lot for heir country. it didn't give the Americans a good view on the British, the Americans then saw them as power hungry fools that would do anything for wealth, while really, that is a very accurate representation of the Americans then, and now.
