the united states quickly became ivolved in World War II after the attack on Pearl Harbor because there was no longer a debate over foreign policy. Americans were now determined to win the war. As for the change to international involvement, the United States became the leading manufacturer during the war. They were creating all sorts of weapons faster than any other nation in the war.

The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor without an official declaration of war, and without any real sign of provocation. Naturally, this act prevoked many Americans to fight back harder to gain revenge for the fallen. "Remember Pearl Harbor!" became a rallying cry for many Americans. This resulted in the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (I think), which was even more devastating than the Japanese Fleet's unannounced attack on Pearl Harbor that sunk the USS Arizona. Many Japanese people were afflicted with leukemia, which few survived. Sadako Sasaki herself was afflicted with leukemia, and died while only a teenager. Believing in the myth that you would get a wish granted if you folded 1,000 cranes, she struggled to fold them. She never finshed them. Her classmates folded the remaining cranes so 1,000 would be buried with her. The Peace Memorial stands today in Hiroshima as a "shrine" to her and the children who died of leukemia from the bombing. Inscribed are the words: "This is our cry, This is our prayer, Peace in the world." The memorial itself is Sadako holding a crane in her hands. P.S. Pls. forgive me if the info is incorrect.
