The women started doing different kinds of jobs during the Civil War, that they hadn't done before. While the men were all out fighting in battle, women flocked in to fill their positions in the workplace, as well as the battle field. They became nurses worked as spies, and even fought in battles. Women worked in the factories too. Before the war men thought that it was impossible for women to perform such tasks, but they were quickly proven otherwise.

∙ 9y agoWomen were greatly affected on both sides. In the South, they were left to run the plantations by themselves. A lot of women in the North were able to get clerical jobs and worked as doctors.
