Well, let's see. Remember when you were young (before cell phones) and when you went out to play your mother would yell, "Call if you're going to be late," and you'd say, "Okay" but then you didn't because you either forgot or just couldn't be bothered so you lied and said that your friend's phone was out of order or some other dumb thing and that you didn't have a dime ( or quarter, God help us!) to put into a pay phone, and so you got grounded for a week and couldn't even talk on the phone with your friends and had to come straight home from school and do your homework and couldn't even watch tv so you had to miss Batman and Mr. Ed reruns?

Well now you don't have those excuses anymore. And that doesn't happen anymore.

And also remember how you used to get all those annoying calls from telemarketers trying to interest you in the latest way to unroll your toilet paper or de-flea your hamster without the overpowering smell of tomato and garlic or wanting to help you sell that time-share unit you never bought in the first place? Or maybe they wanted to trick you into re-financing your house even though you live in an apartment, or get you to re-up your subscription to "THIN WALLS - THE APARTMENT DWELLERS GUIDE TO QUIET SANITY" when you originally got it from someone else? Well they can't get to you on your cell phone. YET!!

But now that you have your cellphone, any lonely microwave-damaged, brain dead jerk can interrupt you anytime they want for the most asinine reason, or for NO REASON WHAT-SO-EVER just because they have a cell-phone, too and you were dumb enough to give them your number! And because most cell-phone users are too dumb to remember to turn their phones off at public events like movies or plays or museum visits, the rest of us have to have our lives permanently infected by stupid, annoying ringtones and loud onesided conversations about how little Bobby is ALMOST toilet trained but had a pretty messy accident this morning right there in the middle of the dining room during your latest McDonald's job interview,which , by the way, was the reason Taco Bell let you go.

So if you are in public talking on a cell phone and see me coming, turn around and run.

Well cellphones help your world now because you can have conversations with your friends and tell you parents where you are and if they don't answer then you siblings will answer saying they will tell them. But cellphones are also helpful to look things up on the internet.
