The Tigris and Euphrates rivers both provided a great source of food for the people in that region, and when the people decided to settle down and farm, the two acted as great resources for farming and irrigation. When they began to have more and more food, their population expanded, but because of the fact there were TWO rivers instead of just one like other civilizations, (i.e. Egypt, India, china) they were able to support more and more people, thus giving rise to one of the greatest civilizations of all time.
