New Light- had to be converted to be a preacher, taught Americans to decide things based on their individual consciences rather than blindy accept the will of the rich and powerful. they thought that God had already decided whether they were going to heaven or hell, and that no one knew their fate. a sinner could be converted born again and saved from hell in one spiritual moment

Old light- unconverted ministers, thought New Light as a threat to the Congregational chuch

What is the difference between methodism and evangelism?

Methodism is a branch of Protestant Christianity that emphasizes the importance of personal faith and social justice. Evangelism, on the other hand, is the practice of sharing the message of the Christian gospel with others in order to convert them to Christianity. While both Methodism and evangelism involve spreading the teachings of Christianity, Methodism is a specific denomination with its own beliefs and practices, whereas evangelism is a broader concept that can be practiced by Christians of various denominations.
