the whole time during World War 1, the German citizens thought they were winning and doing awsome. so when they found out they lost, it was a big blow. so they were shocked at that plus Germany was in SO much debt from the war it was almost impossible to live in Germany because everything was so expensive due to taxes. The Treaty of Versilles set up so many laws and restrictions for Germany too. Germans really were desperate for a new strong leader since their previous leader had backed out and their government wasn't so great either. So when Hitler and the Nazi party were heard of, German citizens fell in love with them. They thought that Hitler and the Nazis could lead them on the road to a stronger government and revenge. So basically, the Germans were desperate for a strong leader and found Hitler. The rest is history. A sad history.
