The religion affected the New York colony in a very harsh way. The Quakers couldn't really walk around their town and some religions, people thought some people were witches so if you just walk around, some people could accuse you and drown you, if they can swim, they accuse it on "witches" or if you cant swim... you die. How unresonable!
