Because it was considered to be a popular event. It was very popular to kill Christians back then. The reason why most of the Roman emperors killed Christians was because there were a lot of Roman empers that wanted to be worshiped as gods. The name of the Roman emperor that stopped these events was Constantine. Constantine made it legal to be a Christian and he made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire. The Romans are the ones who spread Christianity throughout the Roman world. Therefore there were lots of Christians in the time of Constantine. The Roman empire stretched from the U.K (England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland) and Spain to the orient, it also contained a huge chunk of North Africa. The Roman Empire was one of the world's largest empires during the time of the ancient world.
