It could just be me, but I believe that Australians were greatly impacted in a positive way after the siege of the Tobruk. When the Germans withdrew and surrendered their was a feeling of elation, as it was the first victory of allied troops over the Germans in WW2.Unlike in past times when information on the battle would have been censored, the news was spread and pride swept over the nation.
