This is a job that should be done very carefully, taking your time and not rushing. Disconnect your negative battery terminal. Remove the air cleaner and mass air flow tubing from the top side of the engine. Then you should have access to the fuel rail. The fuel rail will need to be depressurized. Remove the gas cap. Looking on the fuel rail locate the pressure nozzle (should have a small black cap on it which unscrews. Don't confuse this with the AC lines on the front (passenger) side of the engine. Using a small screwdriver wrapped in a rag (so you dont get sprayed with gasoline) push the needle valve on the pressure valve and hold til you dont hear a hissing sound. Then you will have to disconnect the fuel rail. It will be bolted down by 2 bolts (if i remember right) and once that is done remove the vacuum line from the pressure regulator on the fuel rail. Then you can carefully begin to slowly rock the fuel rail back and forth a bit at a time until the injectors pop out of their sockets at the intake manifold. Once you have the rail out you will need to get a complete o-ring set for the injectors. Each injector takes two o-rings. They just roll off with a small screwdriver. Replace the o-rings on the bottom of the injectors then take them off one at a time and replace the top o-ring then reinstall the injector into the fuel rail. then to the next one for top o-ring installation. Remember to coat the o-rings with just a bit of oil so they pop in place easily when you reinstall the injectors into the rail and intake manifold. Once you have replaced all of the o-rings you are now ready to reinstall the injectors into the intake manifold. Using the same rocking motion to remove the injectors and rail from the intake, reinstall the injectors into the intake. Fasten the fuel rail and replace the air cleaner and mass air low tubes. Then you will need to reconnect the negative battery terminal. After that you will need to locate the fuel shut off valve. It is located on the drivers side floorboard kick panel near the Emergency brake pedal. It is set into the kick panel and hads a red button. Insert your key into the ignition, turn to the "ON" position, and depress the red button. Then you can start the car. Make sure you replace the nozzle cover on the fuel rail pressure valve. Check for leaks. Car may run rough for the first minute or two.

Replacing the injector itself is not a difficult task. Getting to it is yet another question. You will probably save time and money by taking it to a shop if you do not have the proper tools or experience for removing and replacing fuel rails.

Since the Windstar has both struts (front) and shocks (rear), both procedures are covered in the 2 "Related Questions" below
Removing the upper intake manifold will gain access to the "spider". It is not necessary to replace the complete "spider" if there is only one bad injector. Each injector and the pressure regulator are replaceable.
