The Buddhists are told that the way to break out of the cycle of death and rebirth is Nirvana. Nirvana is the ultimate state of enlightenment, of becoming the Buddha or becoming the witness and observer, realizing we are not this body that will die, we are not even the Mind and Ego, the ME that is reborn. So the Buddha spoke about how to break away from this cycle of death and rebirth. First we have to overcome this samsara, this world of desires, of material possessions. We have to let go of our desires because desires make us attached to people and possessions in this world. It is desire that makes us suffer, therefore, as per the Buddha, when we use the gift of discrimination and we live with dispassion and detachment, that is the way to live in Divine union, to be in silence, to be in meditation, to transcend the wandering mind and ego and to be liberated, to become one with the Divine by escaping from the cycle of rebirth. He called this Nirvana.

Hinduism is an umbrella term encompassing many different religious traditions and practices, so no one answer to this question is going to be true of all of "us Hindus." But I think it may be helpful to start answering this question by thinking about the three different paths, or yogas, of Hinduism. First there is karmayoga, the path of action. In this path, it is considered important to perform the right deeds (particularly one's personal duty, or svadharma). Secondly, there is the path of knowledge, jnayayoga. The followers of this path seek enlightenment, e.g. the spiritual realization and oneness with brahma, the divine power that pervades the universe. Finally, the path of devotion or bhakthiyoga, encourages each individual to seek a personal, loving relationship with divinity. You could say that these three paths are different ways to reach the same goal - moksa, escape from the cycle of rebirth. In actuality, most Hindus practice a combination of all three yogas as a way to obtain moksa.

Why did Hindus react against the partition of Bengal?

The partition of Bengal aroused fury among the Hindus. The Hindus thought that the partition of Bengal was an attempt to break the unity among the Hindus which might be a threat to the British Government. They thought that the British had applied their 'Divide and Rule Policy' meaning that the Hindus and the Muslims will keep on fighting with each other and the threat which the radical nationalism of the Hindus was disturbing the Britishers would come to an end. Consequently the Hindus' attempts to kick the British out of the Sub-continent and establish Hindu Rule would loose their solidarity and strength. Furthermore the Hindus could not bear to see the Muslims flourish and the partition of Bengal meant exactly that. It can also be seen that the Hindus wouldn't allow any degree of Partition of their Motherland, the India. This fact was confirmed by the height of opposition and objection to the Partition of India in 1947 from the Hindus.

When do you change the spring on a garage door?

You don't unless they break. I had one break and it was hard to replace. Unless you need to leave them alone. www.doorcoinc.com: The standard torsion springs in the industry are meant to last 10,000 cycles. So if you go in and out to work 5 days a week and go on vacation for two weeks a year your springs would probably last for 20 years. (Two cycles a day five days a week = 10 cycles a week. Over a year your door would get 50 weeks time 10 cycles a wee or 500 cycles. Hence 20 years.) Often times better springs are used which last longer than 10,000 cycles and often people use their garage door much more often than stated above. The next time you get your torsion springs replaced ask the company what the cycle time on the springs are. The tech may not know but the owner probably does. Then you can do the calculations, based on how often you use the door, yourself. Some, usually elderly, customers do like to replace the springs before they break to reduce the chance of being locked in.
