Disconnect the battery cable, wait 5 min. then replace battery cable = Computer reset. Keep in mind the engine management system's PCM will lose the information stored in its memory when the batteries are disconnected. This includes idling, operating valves and any fault codes detected. This will have to be re-programmed into the units memory. You will experience surging ,hesitation ,erratic idle and a general inferior level of performance. The PCM will learn on its own if you do nothing. This takes about 2 or 3 days. Quick fix is start engine let idle until normal operating temperature is reached, then run RPM's to 1200 for 2 minutes, then drive vehicle for a minimum of 5 miles at varied driving conditions. This will complete the relearnig process for the PCM. PCM=Powertrain Control Module.
Make sure that you connected the battery cables properly. The red cable goes to the positive side(+) the negative or black cable to the (-) side.
My envoy did this also when the battery died. installed new battery and key came out.

The airbag light in the 2003 GMC ENVOY can be reset by disconnecting the battery for about 5 minutes. Then reconnect the battery, turn the key to on without starting the vehicle, and pump the gas pedal three times if the light is still on after reconnecting the battery.
No, it can cause you to use and excesive amount of fuel but it will not effect the battery.
If the instrument cluster on a 2002 Envoy is not working, check the fuses. There is a main fuse for this under the hood on top of the battery.
Check the starter.
