You can get by vitiligo because of a number of reasons; it may be due to severe physical or mental distress. Vitiligo also has association with other autoimmune diseases. Heredity is also among these causes, the transmission to each generation may be also be influenced by other pre-existing factors.

The exact cause is still not known.

You should thank god that you haven't acquired this disorder. The three main cause of vitiligo are severe mental or physical trauma, inheritance and other autoimmune diseases.

Vitiligo medically known as achromia, which means loss of color. Vitiligo is a disorder in which white patches of skin appear on different parts of the body. Vitiligo is more commonly known as leucoderma, which simply means white (leuco) skin (derma), i.e. a skin disorder where it loses its normal coloration. This happens because the cells that make pigment (color) in the skin are destroyed.
