Belive it or not is does use up energy even if it is in sleep mode in order for it to not use any energy you have to turn it off.
Generally speaking, yes, it is better to put the computer to sleep than it is to shut it down, for two reasons: 1. It's better for you - resuming from sleep mode is a lot faster than going through the entire boot up process. 2. It's better for the computer - resuming operation from a low-powered state is less harsh on you computer components than when you jolt it alive by turning the power on from a shut down state.
it depends on what PC you have. on apple and windows X.p professional, if the computer is not turned off properly of you had a power , your computer will/might come up a screen saying "your computer was not shut down properly and as a result data was lost. choose safe mode to return this data back or continue normally!" You can also access Safe Mode when you boot up Windows and press F8 repeatedly on the black screen. It'll give you the option to either access Safe Mode, or Safe Mode with Networking.
The sleep key shuts down some of the computer's systems in order to conserve energy, but it does not shut the computer completely off and thus you do not have to go through a full boot up of all systems when you want to wake the computer up.
In Windows AND Mac, this is called Safe Mode, only loading up essential files. This can be used when you suspect a virus to be infecting your computer. To enable this, restart your computer and select boot options from the options displayed when the computer is booting.
It takes less time to resume computer from sleep mode then to boot it up. When you senf our computer in the sleep mode you can keep your programs open, and after you resume the system you have all your programs already running.
Press the power button on your PC to wake it up
When you tap the sleep key, the computer goes into a low power standby mode. Tapping the wake key brings the computer back up to a ready state. It is used instead of shutting down the computer because it is a faster way to get the computer up and running. Also, if you have a program running, there is no need to shut that off as it will be ready for you, where you left off when the computer wakes up. It is very similar to the 'hibernate' feature of many computers. Both sleep and hibernate are low power standby modes. I never use sleep mode because I see no advantage to being able to start up my PC that much faster than if I had just shut it down.
If it is stuck in sleep mode just restart the computer by pressing the power button for 5-10 seconds. Then when the computer starts up make sure to go to your power options in control panel and disable all the sleep options. This wont fix the sleep problem but will prevent your computer from going into sleep in the first place. Commonly sleep issues occur when there is a program running that doesn't agree with being put in sleep mode and causes windows to crash.
maybe your mouse is moving, or is thinking it's moving, so it thinks you're trying to wake up the computer
You wake it up:)
Plugging something in (or removing something) is seen as a sufficient action to wake up the computer, since you may be about to do something with it.
someone must have put u there cause it doesn't go that way by itself so just ask. it is the same way as turning it of only it comes up as you touch it so put your computer in sleep mode if you can.
Try pressing the power button again.

To put cell phone into sleep mode on GTA IV (including add-ons) on the PS3: Press directional button once, then press "X", this will bring up the list screen. Using the directional button go down the list until you find "Options". Press "X". Using the directional button, go through the options at the bottom of the screen until the Sleep Mode option comes up. Press "X" twice, and then "O" three times. There should now be a tiny phone icon on screen, to show that the phone is in Sleep Mode. However, if you leave the Sleep Mode on for long periods of time, it will disrupt the storyline if you are still playing the game. To remove sleep mode, go back to Options, and find the Sleep Mode option again, and then just press "X", and "O" three times to return the phone to normal.
We do not have a timer option on the remote to place the receiver in sleep mode. The only timer options are for setting up recordings for movies and programs. Sleep mode can be setup for you TV but not the DISH receiver.
