Any technical-minded person could probably perform the tasks of an engineer if they're intelligent. But if you are asking if someone with a teaching degree would ever be hired for an engineering position, the answer is a firm no. There is no way in hell they would ever receive a job offer over an engineering degree candidate. How would the employer know the candidate is technically-savvy enough without the degree?
