You have to get insurance on that car and go to any County tag office in GA for a new title or registration and a new tag. Certain year model cars require you have the title - not just a bill of sale.

When a car is purchased from a private seller and it develops faults soon after purchase can the car be returned to seller?

If the car was running good when purchased, and was sold "as is", then not much. If it wasn't sold "as is" try to get your money back from the seller. If this doesn't work, you'll have to take it to Small Claims Court.

When you buy a gun is it registered to you?

That would depend on where you purchased the gun and what the local laws are. If you purchased a gun from a private seller it would be your responsibility to register it. If you purchase from a gun store, they probably register it during the sale. However, only a few states require registration. So the answer is, you probably don't have to register the gun, regardless of where you bought it, unless you live in California, Massachusetts, or one of the other states that require it (there are only about 5 or 6 states that require registration).

If you purchased a vehicle in Georgia several days ago from a private party and paid cash for it but did not sign name or date or the odo yet on the title and it broke down is it his problem or mine?

Are you the purcher? If so I would say, that it is your proublem. The seller has no controll of your signing the title. You do that to get your new title. That is not the responsibility of the seller. Did the vehicle come with a warranty or was it as is?

No.... The time to check a car out is before you buy. Unless otherwise agreed to a purchase from a private seller is typically AS IS so buyer beware.

In Georgia does one have to pay sales tax on a car purchased from a private seller?

Be careful! As long as the car is titled to a private owner, NO you don't have to pay sales tax. But we made a huge mistake! Thought we were buying from a private individual but he put the title in his privately owned company name and now we have to pay sales tax. A fact the OWNER should have disclosed!!
