Missions can be earned by greeting new contributors, congratulating contributors for various achievements they've earned (mentoring program graduates, new supervisors, achieving a certain WikiGuide status, etc.), helping new contributors out with problems or questions they have about WikiAnswers, the list goes on.
In the Community Outreach home, the WikiGuide chooses a Mission from the Mission Builder. Each community action the program performs will have plenty of missions available. When the WikiGuide completes the mission he or she has accepted, they click on "Complete."
Once the mission has been verified and approved, it will become available again and the WikiGuide will receive credit for that mission.
Ths standard missions are listed below. Each task on the misison builder will generally earn one 1 mission each.
New Contributor Greetings - Greet new contributors to the site. Meet new people,
make friends, and help them learn their way around the site. You will receive via email an updated list of new contributors weekly, along with the message containing our guidelines and tips for greeting.
Contributor Kudos - Spot a good contribution? Let the contributor know you think it's great!
Special Occasion Greetings - Deliver well-wishes to contributors. Birthday, anniversary, new baby, etc. You will receive access to our Special Occasions calendar to notify you of special occasions when you join CO and we also supply you with a grand list of birthdays.
New Supervisor Congratulations - Congratulate new Supervisors for joining the Super Team. You can find an updated list of New Supervisor Congratulation Opportunities on a post in the Community Outreach forum.
Help New Contributor - When you greet new contributors, you may offer to help them learn their way around the site or answer their questions.
New Mentoring Program Grads Congratulations - Congratulate new Mentoring Program graduates. You will find the post "Mentoring Program Graduate Congratulations Opportunities" on the Community Outreach forum.
Accomplishment Congratulations - Congratulate contributors for any and all accomplishments - new badges or designations, new milestones reached, contest wins, program membership, etc. You will find the post "Accomplishment Congratulations Opportunities" on the Community Outreach forum.
Contact MIA Contributors and Supervisors - Notice a contributor or supervisor who is missing in action? Let them know we miss them, and would love to see them again. You will find these as you cruise the site, checking the dates for their last contributions or by using our Super Team List.
Extra Credit - For the extra steps you take in Community Outreach above and beyond our regular community actions. In order to receive extra credit, you need to check with Robin for approval before you do anything for extra credit. There may also be times when you will be asked if you'd like to take on some small task to receive extra credit. Some tasks may be worth more mission credit than others.
