The angle in which the bee waggles relative to gravity translates to an angle relative to the current position of the sun. For example, if a bee waggles straight up on the comb for a long duration, she is saying to head towards the sun in its current position for a long distance. There are many other factors speculated to be involved in this information exchange, such as scents and sounds, but so far no research has been able to fully prove this.
