∙ 10y agoIn a democratic society, we believe this happens on the basis of people's interest in and suitability for the job and becaue of their abilities and their experience. If we are talking political jobs, people are elected to government positions in general or local elections in most countries. However, it cannot be ruled out that at times some people are chosen to work in government because of their wealth, family or other connections of power and influence rather than on the basis of their inherent ability.
