How can earthquake damage be made less worse?

Ooh! We did this in Geography!!! 1) construct buildings that are able to withstand the shock 2) Have earthquake drills so that people know what to do in the event of an earthquake (like in Japan) 3) Have an emergency services in a town or city close by ready to come out for help (although this could be a bit expensive) hope it helped!

What should you do if you get hurt during an earthquake?

That would depend more on the type of injury rather than on the earthquake. The main difference is that after an earthquake, the possibility to get help is probably limited. Roads might not be passable. Hospitals might be full of injured people. So do the regular First Aid things, like you would if you got injured while out camping/hiking. Don't call emergency services or go to a hospital unless you really need qualified help. Compound/open fractures, big/deep cuts, particularly to hands, face, joints. Trouble breathing, internal injuries w/firm abdomen, sucking chest wounds, etc etc

Why is this important for us to identify areas which are prone to earthquake?

So as to avoid them. So as to make building regulations requiring buildings to be earthquake proof. So as to know where emergency resources ma need to be deployed.
