It sounds like there is a problem with the ignition switch not allowing power to be cut off from you ignition source.
The idle speed could be set too high. Adjust the idle speed on the carburetor or throttle body, and then it should shut off just fine.
If it is just sputtering like it's trying to stay running, you need higher octane fuel in it or put a fuel system cleaner in the tank... I prefer chemtool B-12
if it is under the hood, it could be a small antifreeze or oil leak that when the engine is running the smoke is blown away, but when shut off it continues to burn off but is not blown away.
The fuel is shut off to shut the engine off.
You can either fix the problem or disconnect the battery and re connect it
If you just want to shut off the alarm pull the wire off the sensor at the oil filter housing and ground it to the engine, this will silence the alarm but not fix your oil pressure issue.
to shut off engine if it falls out
A bad fuel injector can cause an engine to continue running, for a few seconds, after the engine to shut off. The engine continues to run because of excessive fuel in a piston.
Take it to a qualified mechanic for a diagnstic Shut off the engine Shut off the engine
If it is an electric fan, it may continue to run after the engine is shut off until the engine temperature drops below a certain point. This is normal and the fan should shut off after a while (definitely not longer than 20-30 minutes after the engine is stopped). If the fan continues to run for hours after the engine is shut down, then there is a problem that needs to be addressed. Disconnect the battery until the vehicle can be serviced.
The fan continues to run after the engine is shut off to bring the engine temperature down to a specific temperature so the cooling system does not build up excess pressure.
Shut it off, then turn it back on.
If the engine temperature gets too hot and the engine fail - safe cooling mode is activated the engine will eventually shut off
Yes this can cause the engine to shut off. This the main input to the engine ecu.
