Just to the right of your headlight switch on your dash , there is a gauge lighting dimmer wheel switch . Check to see if that has been rotated all the way up . If it has , the courtesy lights will stay on with the doors closed

how do i remove the dome light cover on a 2007 ford explorer suv
The bulb could be blown.
door ajar means one of the cars doors are not closed all the way in ture this will keep your dome light on
The door ajar switch is part of the latch, inside the door.
The door ajar switch is part of the latch inside the door.
Possible faulty door switch. Try contact cleaner or light grade of lubricant on the switch. Push each door switch in by hand and see if door ajar light goes out.What_causes_your_2004_ford_explorer_to_beep_that_a_door_is_open_and_the_dome_light_on_when_all_doors_are_properly_closed
I have a 2003 Explorer and I had the same problem- it also kept my dome lights on. I found a few wires in the door jam broken, once I spliced it back together the light went off and another broken wired controlled the remote mirrors fixed that one while I was at it also
Car believes one door is ajar - dirty/inoperable door switch? Light manual on/dash dim/dome on switch is swivelled completely clockwise; or is shorted making car believe you want the dome light manually switched on.
because you probably have them on dome lights are a setting on most cars there sould be a switch somewhere on the car. and the ajar is because you probably have a door thats not shutting all the way. thats from my car experience. if you still have trouble look on the owners manual
I would assume you have either a "Door Ajar" indicator or the Dome light stays on. I don't know if it applies to the 95 but on our 97 the switches are located on the door latch mechanism inside the door. WD40 spray on the door latch really worked for the Dome Light problem, I would guess it will work on the door ajar switch as well.
You can remove the dome light, in your 2000 Chevy Tahoe, by inserting a small screwdriver into the locking slot. Gently pry downward with the screwdriver.
