how many belts are in mazda 626
This year Mazda protege does not have a serpentine belt. It has two belts, one for the alternator/water pump, and the other for the power steering and a/c.
Its located on the passenger side near the bottom, you can see it from the top if you follow the belts on the side of the engine...
# Notice which pulleys the alternator belt rides on. # Remove the alternator's adjustment bolt. # Remove the alternator's pivot bolt. # Remove the alternator. # Before you can put on the new belt, you probably will have to remove someother belts which means loosening other adjustment and pivot bolts. # Place the new alternator belt on the pulleys you took note of earlier. # Put the alternator back on. # Making sure to tighten all the bolts you loosened earlier. All belts should only deflect 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Longer belts deflect more than shorter belts.
the alternator will be on the end of the engine that has the drive belts or serpentine belts, alternators are belt driven.
Changing the alternator or removing and installing the belt should not cause excessive stress or wear on the belts.
belts
On the passenger side of the engine, under a cover behind the Alternator and Power Steering belts and pulleys and under the Valve Cover.
By replacing the belt tensioner, this is a serpentine belt systems there is no adjusting the alternator bolt tighten the drive belts, if the belts are loose you must replace the belt tensioner and the belt to retain optimum performance from you Charging sytem as well as you other equipment being driven by the belt system.
Loosen the belts, unbolt the old alternator, bolt the new one on, tighten the belts back up.
