if on a 4.8/5.3 or 6.0 you have to remove the main serpentine belt first then slide the 4 rib a/c belt off of the crank pulley while holding the tensioner back

if you are replacing it with a new belt, hold the tensioner back and cut the belt unless you want it for a roadside spare.
