generally it will require you to replace all the seals in the pump, the bearings, the impeller/pump mechanism, and some other small parts as well. for the money, remanufactured ones are by far and away the best route.

The power steering pump on an automobile will not air lock. If the power steering is not working properly, it could be that the pump itself is in need of repair. Replacing the power steering belt might also fix this problem. Also check to make sure the pump has enough fluid to operate properly.
Depends whats wrong. Is there oil in the pump? Does the pump need to be replaced? If so, just remove the belt and change the pump.
Clean the power steering are real good check for where the leak is coming from and go from there. For example if a hose is leaking replace hose, if power steering pump seals are leaking replace pump, exc.
Steering rack worn? Power steering pump going bad? Worn steering or suspension components? Frozen steering shaft?

A power steering pumps as much as the power steering pump can pump.
Remove the power steering pump hose. Remove the power steering pump belt. Remove the power steering pump retaining bolts. The power steering pump will come off.

Remove the belt for am your power steering pump. Remove the power steering pump hose. Remove the power steering pump retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new power steering pump.
There is no steering pump as the Z4 uses electrically-assisted steering.
