Yes it does come with Pats. I am having issues with pats right now. My car will not start.

Most places from ford to the internet say to enter your vehicle like usual to disarm it...most cases (like mine) that just don't work, i went into ford and got a girl to come over and reprogram my keys...still nothing so i inquired about diabling the pats system, according to her (diesel tech at ford) ford can do this but i didnt hear it from her""...but now when i goto the service desk (different tech) and ask about it, its impossible for them to accomplish....i feel like their not telling me everything. i know its possible. the vehicles computer and pats modual work together (with out a pats modual your vehicle will not fire) however there are shops out there with the equipment that can reprogram your computer to ignor pats. the only concern here is if the factory keyless entry and keypad on door will continue to work (controled via pats modual)

Man ,,,,i just went through the same thing with my mothers 2000 Ford Windstar lx.Had to take it the Ford dealer $90 bucks plus $25 buck to get a second key made .If you don't have a second key then you will have to get another made in order for them to reset the pats anti theft system. take about 1hr to reset..Oh yeah almost for got.Yeah it will have to be towed. Hope you got AAA. FISHMEER .....

What do you do if you lost the key for a Ford Taurus?
If it is '96 or up, then it has PATS and you are in a bit of trouble. The car will have to be towed to the dealer because only the dealer can program the car to accept the computer chip that is in the handle of the new key that will have to be cut. A true locksmith can cut the key and program it right where the car sits for 1/3 the price, but the dealerships will not tell you this. Try every Ford key you can find if its not PATS. My husbands F-150 ford key works in the back glass of my Mercury Villager. His is a 95 mine a 93.
Do Taurus - Sables have a transponder in the ignition key?
Yes. The 2000-2003 Sable uses a PCM PATS System. Only dealer or locksmith can program these keys into the vehicle. If you have 2 working keys, you can program more by yourself. See "Related Questions" below. Although written to the Windstar, the procedure is the same for the Taurus/Sables

which alarm? pats alarm? which is the computer chip key or vehicle alarm? either way they are both tied into each other. refer to owners manual on programing keys. if you only have one key you need to go back to the dealer to program a set of keys.

early xr2i's with external EDIS can swap ecus with no problem later spec xr2i's have internal EDIS and external pats, you cant swap an early ecu with a later ecu, you cant swap a pats ecu with a non pats ecu (pats is the Ford Passive Anti Theft System)
